The Greater South Jersey Alumni Chapter of Cheyney University took our second trip to the Smithsonian African-American History and Culture Museum. The images are of the museum's lower level, the slavery exhibits that depict the forced importation, migration, exploitation and massive wealth generated by the institution of slavery. You will see the origins of the notions of race, the inherent hypocrisy in the legal codification of slavery, the subjugation and brutalization of Africans juxtaposed with the "freedom" espoused by the founding documents of this nation.
