Victims of sexual abuse by priests share shocking stories

CHICAGO (FinalCall.com) - Attorney Phillip Aaron said after hearing the emotional stories of victims of sexual abuse by religious authorities within the leadership of the Roman Catholic Church in Chicago, he felt obligated to help. "Somebody had to help these guys," Atty. Aaron told The Final Call "I think that I would die if I didn't."

In a report delivered to The Final Call in late November 2009, specifically responding to allegations of racial discrimination in the abuse settlement process, the Archdiocese of Chicago acknowledged that a majority of the allegations they heard from Black victims involved Terence Fitzmaurice (17 claims) and Victor Stewart (33 claims).

The Archdiocese of Chicago has settled with the claimants in this series of articles, however, Atty. Phillip Aaron, charges that the settlement offers were not made in good faith. Atty. Aaron alleges the Archdiocese of Chicago engaged in legal hardball, offering settlements only to avoid further discovery of evidence that could expose higher-ups in the Archdiocese of Chicago to possible criminal liability if the statute of limitations has not run out. » READ THE FULL STORY

I grew up Catholic. I was never the "good" Catholic girl as I was always questioning the Church on their fucked policies. I fucking hate the RCC. They are nothing but a bunch of thugs in the "right" clothing. At a New Year's Eve church party I attended with Husband #2, one priest grabbed my ASS when we all took a photo. I was in my mid-20's and not outspoken like I am now. No wonder I was a drug addict and an alcoholic! I did not say a thing but excused "Father's" behaviour due to him being drunk. I am very pro-choice and am appalled at the Church's stance on "the sanctity of life" when they have ruined so many lives by violating the most vulnerable of all: the children.
