Rev. Ira Acree's Call To Action In Challenging YMCA announcement Monday of the closing of the Austin YMCA.
Attention all educators, pastors, politicians, parents and business owners: The YMCA announced Monday the closing of the Austin YMCA. In this time of great desperation and in an area plagued with excessive violence and multiple other challenges, it would be reckless for us as a community, to allow an organization who's mission historically has been to help the disenfranchised, to abandon us at such a time as this. Lets challenge the YMCA to do the right thing and to stay true to it's mission. After all let's not forget what the acronym means: Young Men CHRISTIAN Association. Your help is needed as we organize.
