To achieve we must believe! unfortunately belief only does not create achievement. at the same time, truly reparations is not a selfish reward. truly reparations is not for you or me. reparations is for the generations unborn.

Verse 2 - Lift Every Voice & Sign

Stony the road we trod, bitter the chastening rod,
    Felt in the days when hope unborn had died;
Yet with a steady beat, have not our weary feet,
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered,
    We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered;
Out from the gloomy past, till now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.

we, those on the front line of the reparations struggle, say that Afrikan in ameican & throughout the Diaspora are injuried in five areas - peoplehood/nationhood, crime/punishment/justice, mental & physical health, welath vs poverty and education or miseducation. those injuries did not happen overnight and they run deep. combine that we the misnomers of white supremacy and black inferiority, the task of repairing the demage done seems in insurmountable.

To achieve we must believe! looking at that we have achieved against the obstacles we have faced, there is nothing stopping us from achieving whatever we wanna achieve "except us." the old adage says - we have done so much with so little for so long, we now feel qualified to do any with nothing. we simply have to realize that together we have plenty.

the majority of the front line reparations warriors do what we do because of the children of our children. what we do is the legacy we leave for our families because we do not expect to leave material wealth. and we believe intellecual wealth is far more valuable.

Queen Akeba, please excuse my tirade, i have always been very serious about my Blackness and the Reparations Movement has given me the prefect platform to teach on about the potential Power of Afrikan People.

i hope we get to talk more about Reparations & Black Power for Black People.

remember - failure is not an option in the Reparations Movement

wishing you Peace, Prosperity & Power

  • I spent 15 hours with some of the most enthusiastic Community-level Repair/Reparations Advocates that I has been around in quite a while. During the Southeast Regional 2010 Convention, February 19th & 20th in Atlanta, GA, for a moment I thought the revolution was on! For me, it was both entertaining and educational (Edutaining). The presenters were powerful and the performers were dramatic. Only thing more we could have asked for was for more to gather with us in the name of our struggle. But I have no doubt that more sisters and brothers will join us because of the committed we have make to do Community-level Self-Repair/Reparations Work.

I wanna invite you to visit the Unity4Power website (unity4power.org) to view the blueprint presentation and the 10-10-50 video. Remember, we have to be committed to educating ourselves to the systems that are working for our best interest. That means we should each also do an internet search for the HR40 bill, the Senate "Apology" for lynching, the House "Apology" for Slavery & JimCrow and the Senate "Apology" for Slavery & JimCrow and add those documents to our Personal Family Library.

I also wanna invite you to go to www.pcocs.org and support the initiative to build at less one Black History Library in every state. Minister T. James is looking to establish "access to more than 600 years of history" for everyone. That 600 years of history of the descendants of enslaved Afrikans will correct many of the falsities currently taught to everyone in america. But only after the demand is made foe change will the corrections be made. So visit www.pcocs.org to help make the demand.

We should also share those documents with our children and kinfolks in order to educate them to our struggle for Environmental and Social Justice. Please educate your kinfolks to the 40,000 for HR40 Campaign, the Insufficient Redress Campaign and the United Voices 4 Reparations Campaign. Teach them ways that they can be a part of this phase of Ourstory being made and the ultimate benefits of Functional/Operational Unity for Afrikan People.

We need to get our people excited about being Afrikan without the hyphen and without the hype, like Dada Tracy Viergela Pierre said. We should make sure that they know about Queen Mother Moore, Baba Imari Obadele and Reparations Jay, as well as our current Elders & Warriors for Reparations. Ask them to get a copy of the Reparations Mix CD (draft 1), listen to it and have a family discussion about it. Invite them to view the Black Candle with you for education and discussion. And most importantly, lets get our children educated and involved in this struggle for the recovery of losses sustained by Afrikan People and liable and punitive damages for the injuries through all five of the injury areas identified by N'COBRA.

Finally, make every effort to join me in New Orleans June 25-27 for the National N'COBRA Conference. We need to get together again and that would be the perfect opportunity. Check out www.ncobra.org for details or call me (601.957.2969). Also, look for an announcement about a Southeast Regional Conference Call as a follow-up to our Southeast Regional Convention.

May you know Raha, Anasa, & Makadara (Peace, Prosperity, & God-Power) through shared love with Afrikan People.

The minor details will be worked out. Everybody gets to have an input. But, the main thing to understand is Pan-Africanism is to overcome the effectrs of slavery. Where slavery dehumized us, Pan-Africanism humanizes us. Where slavery takes away our autonomy and indpenedent and power, Pan-Africanism restores it. Where slavery failed to pay us for our labor, Pan-Africanism comes to collect back pay and all future pay.

Everyday millions upon milions of dollars of resources are taken from Africa. During slvaery it was human beings taken away. Pan-Africanism is to have people of African descent reclaim their Africanness, meaning including their citizenship in the African Union.

One of the most important resources being taken out of Africa currently is oil. For decades Nigeria has sold oil on the world market. Yet development in Nigeria has been painfully slow. Corrupt leaders skim off the top. As long as these leaders get fat and rich they do not much care about what happens to the rest of the people. So, Pan-Africanism comes to make leaders accountable and responsible to the people.

Once the leadership is held accountable, they will implement policies that benefit All-Africans everywhere. If the world needs oil from Africa, they must not pay less than they pay to get oil from Saudi Arabia and the OPEC countries. Once that is accepted as a minimum standards, we move to add an addition charge to cover the costs of reparations, call it a reparations tax.

But, to uphold market prices for African resources we must build up our strength. This means a strong miltary defense. This is not a new idea. In the 1050's Egypt wanted to build a dam to irrigate the desert for farming. The government went begging everywhere to borrow the money which would be paid back. Nobody would loan the money for the dam. So, the government decided to charge a tax on all shipping through ther Suez Canal and use the money to build the dam. All hell broke loose. israel attacked Egypt. France attacked Egypt. UK attacked Egypt. So, the government closed the Suez canal altogether.

Those were some of the strongest and most violent military forces in the world. But, they could not enter the Suez Canal and re-open it without exposing themselves to sniper fire from Egypt. So, the world was without shipping through Egyptian terrotory, namely the Suez Canal. So, rather than allow the whole world economy to collapse, the USA arranged a deal to end the war and finance the dam project.

What the Somali pirates have proven is that the whole world is dependent on the trade routes through the Red Sea and Guldf of Aden. This time it is not Suez, it is the Gulf of Aden. If the African Union decides to defend Somalia instead of allowing itself to be used aganist Somalia, this would mean a coast guard to protect Somali waters, the Gulf of Aden. Once a coast guard is in place, the African Union can and should levy taxes on world trade to cover reparations.

The reparations people know this. They know that the only way to get reparations is to Unite Africa under a powerful government. But, they are here to confuse the issue. They know that most people are gullible enough to think that begging for repartions is the same thing as Pan-Africanism. It is not. Only a fool would beg for his back pay. Pan-Africanism will demand it and get it.

Okay. I will grant you that. But, it is not my fault. There appears to be a technical problem in this site. It is probably another tricknology. I have this problem all the time. I respond to one person. But, I get re-directed to another. I am relieved to know that you "light skinned girl" did not say such a stupid thing.

Anyway, It is not my theory. Many hard working and intelligent and honest Africans have spent many years developing these concepts. My only crime is being open-mended and honest enough to admit that they are correct. It is therefore my duty to contribute to the development of an African revolutionary intelligentsia. This means that those in positons to teach our youths, young people such as you, need to show more intellectual integrity and honesty. I did not start this.

What happened is I keep getting ambushed by those who disagree. The most incident involved thugs coming after me threatening me with violence. Therefore, I will express my viewpoint if for no other reason than to prove that threats will not stop. me.

And, you are correct: we are USA citizens on paper. But, noone calls us United Staters. Besides, America is not one continent. It is two continents: North America and South America. As for Africa, we are all citizens of Africa. We do not need anyone to write this down on paper. The African Union is a reality. And, it is the process of getting ready to provide passports for all Africans and persons of African descent everywhere. This is my main point: we need to pay more attention to reality, especially as it affects us all. Most of us have no idea of what is going on in terms of African Unity, the African Revolution and the African Nation. There is an African Nation and we are all members of the African Nation. I keep saying this if for no other reason that nobody else has what it takes to say it: honesty. And, I do not care whose egos get bruised.

It amazes me how we can talk pass each other so easily. This is why I use direct quotes as often as possible.

"I personally have NEVER called myself a negro or anyone else."

Okay. So what is that below? You are certainly calling somebody a "negro".

"What is the matter with the negro ..."

You also make liberal use of other obnoxious and insulting n-words. You do not even have the decency to use a capital "N". It is nothing but a putdown of all Africans everywhere.

"But to call myself of an entire continent that houses MANY DIFFERENT nations, languages, cultural practices and everything else is almost to make a caricature of the whole thing, IMO."

But, we all come from Africa. Period. It is because we have so many differences that Pan-Africanism comes to Unite us. Thus, we will all be citizens of Africa while we are still members of various clans, tribes, religions and ethno-liguistic groups. When we meet a Chinese person, we do not call him a Mandarian or a Hong Konger, etc. We call them Chinese. There are some 3000 African languages. Few can even name all of them. I learn the names of new African languages all the time. Somali alone is a combination of about four different African languages. What kind of sense does it make to identify ourselves in 3000 different ways? We all have similar cultures and identical interests. Even when we are not of the same skin complexion, we are known to others as Africans. Moroccans for instance, often have brown complexions and straightish hair. But when a person sees Moroccan culture, he knows it is African.

If you wish to call yourself an American, cool. We are USA citizens. I have no issue with that. But, I avoid calling Japanese the j-word because I know it insults them and hurts their feelings. I avoid calling Chinese the c-word, and I aovid calling Latinos the s-word. It is just common decency in civilized discussion. Calling us the n-word is actually more of a reflection on you than it is on Africans.

"Don't assume what I choose to identify with based on YOUR OWN perception and self-identification."

This is a direct quote: "What is the matter with the negro ..." Those are your words, not mine.

"But to call myself African, I can only say....why?"

Because self-respect and self-awareness and self-love are the first steps towards resolving this matter of "mental slavery". Actually, it is not mental slavery, it is actual slavery. We are still slaves all the more so when we accept being called n-words. As for the bigger fence around the cage, Pan-Africanism is not and has never been about African isolationism. To Unite is not ther same as separating ourselves from the rest of humanity. We must do business with Europe and Asian. The thing is, though, we will never be respected by the Asians and Europeans until we first respect ourselves.

One way to think of Pan-Africanism is that it is the opposite of slavery. Nobody ever said that Kenyans, Somalis, Ethiopians, Moroccans, etc. were American slaves. Africans were/are American slaves. A slave is someone held as the property of another and who must work for free. Pan-Africanism means that we will return to where we were taken from at least in ths spiritual/cultural sense. It means that we will have power to defend ourselves just as everybody else in the world defend themselves. It means that our resources will no longer be taken from us without just compensation. This is why I say we are still slaves: because the world still does not pay us for our stuff just as they did not pay us for our labor. Pan-Africanism will demand and receive just paynment. This is the opposite of slavery.

"My point is whatever someone wants to call themselves is their own business but it is not for us to tell people how they should address and see themselves, that is completely up to them."

You have no right to call me a "negro". And, I have every right to tell you not to call me a "negro".

"What should I tell a native African if they ask me specifically where in Africa I am from?"

Tell them that you come from All-Africa. This would be essentially the truth. We in the Diaspora always have ancestors from more than one part of Africa. Your grandmother may have been a Moroccan who married a Nigerian. Or she may have been a Bantu who married an Arab. The same is true of Africans in Africa. Like any human beings, we travel and migrate all the time. When we move from place to place we encounter varying cultures and languages and religions. It is only natural to assimilate these types of differences and this is what Africans have always done throughout recorded history. For Instance, the Holy Prophet Abraham (Peace and Blessings be upon him) ( a Semite) married the Holy Ptrophetess Hagar (Peace and Blessinsg be upon her) a north African possibly a Nubian. Similarly the Holy Prophet Solomon (Peace and Blessings be upon him) (a Smeite) consorted with the Queen of Sheba (Ethiopia) thus founding the Abysinain nation. This is one of things that define African culture, Africanness. Virtually all of us are a cominantion of more than one tribe or clan or culture.

"A South African is not the same as an Egyptian. I prefer to respect exactly where someone has come from and not look ridiculous calling myself of an entire continent."

You do not look ridiculous by accepting the obejective reality that you come from Africa. It is true that an Egyptian is not exactly the same as an Algerian, etc. But, the two have more in common than in difefferences. They have more similarities than dissimilarities. This applies to every African no matter what particular region or tirbe he comes from. We are all Africans. An Egyptian is an African. A South African is an African. As for an entire continent, we call ourselves Americans all the time. America is an entire continent. The problem is some of us do not want to face the objective reality of our Africanness. It has nothing to do with what you try to make it out to be. You want to deny yourself. It is a form of self-hatred. And, it is very, very destructive. This is why Africans all over the world suffer: self-hatred, self-destruction.

"Truly I prefer to call myself an Israelite..."

Cool. And, you are still an African. You are African who hates Africans, or at least Africanism/Africanness.

"That is the culture in which I identify myself, those are my practices and that is where I believe many asleep "black" people are descended from based on the Scriptural description of our dispersal."

Pan-Africanism has come to reclaim all of that, including Palestine on which zionism is illgeally occupying. Pan-Africanism Unites all of Arabia and Africa. I have already shown you how Africans and Arabs have always intermixed down through history. This includes what I prefer to call the Jews to avoid confusion. All three major Monotheistic religions come from Africa.

I think it must be done from land base of Power in Africa. It will be in Africa that we will develop the Power necessary to take "reparations". I say "take" because nobody is going to give it to us. That is not the nature of things. In my understanding the only time "reparations" have ever been paid, was when someone got the upper hand and and basically took it. Obama is USA president. He can do only what the system allows him to do. We must Unite Africa to get paid. This is why we must identify as Africans because when Africans get paid we will all get paid together.
