I would like to come at this problem of sagging and the greater problems of this generation from a slighly different direction using recent history as my supporting mechanism. I feel that I should first mention that I am a former member of the orginal Black Panther Party of the 1960's and a associate member of SNCC as well as my black students organization in college.
I believe that we should stop attacking the parents/grand parents of my generation with what I feel are weakly substantiated arguments of overindulgence of our offspring, a lack of information of an historical nature of our struggle to them and other bits and pieces of a misleading nature. We who were and are the members of the 1960's generationhave a whole lot more to be proud of than shame. This is my take on what I see to be the continue assault on African people here and aboard.
The seen and the unseen powers that be, whose primary goal is and has always been the complete destruction and domination of the African people and the control and exploiation of their land and nature resources, are never detoured from their goal. They, "white power elite", literally as well as figuatively, never sleep. At their private and sometimes public "think tanks" they spend exhausting hours on shifts "exploring the black problem". Under the less innocuious heading of "How to Keep America and the European Democracies Edge for the 21st Century and Beyond, some of America's and Western Europe's brightest and most talented are paid quite well to set around and "bounce off"ideas among each other in a environment that is as comfortable as capitalism came provide. This is and attempt to create the best conditions to stimulate the minds ability to come up with fresh ideas to meet its nafarious goal. This is what was done doing the latter part of the 1960's against the "children of the 60's generation" in general and more specifly the black youth of that time. This approach can be thought of as a kind of soft side of "Co-intell-pro.
Our analysis of the history of Europe and its ugly offspring the United Snakes of America was so on point that even with the highly sophisticated propaganda network/machine in place and working overtime, they knew that it would be impossible to turn around the heads of this 60's generation. We had peeped their hole card and once we saw the devil we knew that their could never be any accommdation with him. The decision was made to forget about the 1960's generation. The way they saw it, as we aged, we would become less and less active and illness and death would leave fewer of us. The way to douse our fire and to deliver our most successful and vindictive blow to this pesty dangerous group of trouble makers who challenged our power was to get their kids. If we can successfuly turn their kids heads against the revolutionary teaching of their parents, they will be putty in our hands and we will reign unaposed for the next hundred years. The way that they accomplished this nafarious act was though the tried and true method that had worked in the past and that was, make what we want "the in thing","hip" and therefore desireable while at the same time making what they don't want to be "old fashion", "un-hip" and therefore undisireable.They then looked around for what they could use to make inroads into our community and into the heads of the next generation of kids and found Hip-Hop. But hip-hop eventhough it encompassed many elements that were ripe to be exploited by the "white power elite"to obtain it goal,still had a positive or non-harmfull message as it currently existed for its mostly black and urban following. Enter the nafarious twist and with it the removal of the positive hip-hop culture now being replace with a negative hip-hop culture based on gangs, the evils of street life and its subsequent conclusion of prison. It was called Gangster-Rap.Positive rap message and non-harmful rap was now looked upon as soft, unmanly and any practitioner of it was thought of as a punk. In short positve message rap was shown the proverbial door and is replace by gangster-rap. In order to sell it to its naturally rebellious youth the bogus misnomer of "keeping it real" becomes its mantra. Let us make no mistake about it, the recording industry are just another tool in the arsenal of the beast. Let us invision if you will for a moment a very large mansion call Fort America. Within that mansion/fort, the recording industry has a room. Because America profess to believe in "free enterprise" and all the rest of those other so-called freedom that we have been lead to believe that we have, America does not need to send its storm-troopers in to accomplish it ultimate goal when it can achieve what it wants by more "civilize" means. Hence what America or the white powere elite that runs it will do is,encourage what it wants and discourage what it does not want. This is done by giving or holding back its support of what is see's confronting it. Gangster-rap was encourage and surplanted positve message rap by being generously rewarded while at the same time message rap of a positive nature was discourage by having funding and opportunities taken away from it.
Negro radio and their avaricious owners and D.J.'s are major enemies of the black community. Their role in the continuation of our psychological opression can not be miminalize or underestimated. When they were recently calling on the black community to "Help Save Black Radio", my response was in the words of one of great poems of the Last Poets..."die nigger, die nigger, nigger, nigger, die.
So what does thisall have to do with the subject at hand of sagging, well very simply put, if you do not control those things that have an affect on your life, it can and will be used against you. The ramifcations of our not having power and therefore the control that goes along with that power, leave us subject to all sorts of ills and its un-forseen consequences.

I'm glad to see someone address this demonic trend. What it will take is some positive role models and for someone, like yourself, to continue attacking those black celebrities who forget that many young blacks are emulating this sick trend thinking its cute. Who is teaching these youth a DIFFERENT way? It's one thing to wait for them to do these disgusting things (like the recent video I saw of young black women shaking their butts and simulating sex atop tomb stones!) and then come out in backlash against them. It's quite another to put in place some sort of alternative. There should be forums in every black church, in every black community, every week, to address these dangerous, diabolical trends, and then brainstorming with the youth as to what it would take to help them turn this thing around. These youth--I believe--are hurting and confused. They are really crying out for help and this is the only way they know to do it, by calling attention to themselves in a way they know others will take notice. We cannot respond always with anger, but with sympathy and compassion. I attended many funerals in NY (where I worked for 24 years as a law enforcement officer) of black youth caught in the crossfire of gang shootings, drive-bys, and gun and turf wars. Sitting in the audience I watched and listened as many "good Christians" took the podium and condemned the youth for being in the streets and for not "getting into the church and getting saved". First of all, saved from what? I stood, when I could take these sanctimonious, self-righteous, hypocritical attitudes no longer, and asked "How many of you who belong to this--or any other church in the community--gone out there and spoke with these youth? It's a war out there! While they sit in church evangelizing themselves over and over again, these youth--many of them coming out of dysfunctional homes (homes of drug/alcohol/sexual abuse, or just plain homes with one parent who must work 24/7 to support a household (where the male is often in jail or out of the home, leaving no one home to raise these kids and give them some positive direction) are out there dying on the battlefield! Church was never meant to be a place where congregations sit, endlessly, engaging in so-called 'praise and worship'. It was supposed to be a place where the people would go to ORGANIZE for the ministry, and then GO OUT TO THE SHEEP WHO WERE OUT IN THE PASTURES of this world and help to heal them spiritually. Where is there any instance in the Bible--(for those who claim to emulate Jesus) where Jesus sat in a church and waited for the prospective 'sheep' to COME TO HIM? Where did he tell his followers to establish church BUILDINGS, sit therein, and wait for the 'sheep' to COME TO THEM? "Church"--in Scripture--referred to the PEOPLE, not to the building! Instead, his command to his followers was to "GO CONTINUALLY to the house of (spiritual) Israel". "Go"--is the operative word here. Who is teaching these youth to behave differently? Who is setting the examples? What REALISTIC hope are they getting from the Black community? Who's teaching them the truth about who they are as a people? The school system isn't. The churches aren't. Where are the community centers that are doing this most vital work? ALL SILENT. Then what is there left for them in an element where everything around them represents WHITE progress, white culture, white people prospering, learning their history, etc--while the only thing many of them know of their history is that they were slaves. If these schools won't recruit black teachers to teach these kids their history and give them some self-esteem, then the churches should take up the task. They've got the building. They've got the seats, the space. They've got at least SIX DAYS each week (between Sunday and Wednesday service) where the church is available for use. What's more crucial then the lives and psyche of our youth?? Government funding and grants are available for supplies and books. They've got the not-for-profit status. What's standing in the way of them STANDING IN THE GAP between these youth and the streets? MONEY! In many a church, its the preacher's only concern. Spirituality is supposed to be about treating the WHOLE person, not just their spiritual 'selves'. Whatever affects them or their spirituality is supposed to be of interest to the church as a whole and to the spiritual shepherd! Surely, something like drugs, guns, gangs, premature death, and the diabolical trend engulfing them now is sufficient enough reason to sacrifice the necessary time and effort. With grant money it could even mean jobs for some recruits to do this. All it takes is for the church to CARE ENOUGH: more about these youth (even of their own congregations) and less about their own fame and pockets, and the collection plates! I firmly believe that when these youth see that the adults care more about them and the trend in which they are going, they will begin to care more about themselves. Remember the Scripture where Jesus asks "Is this the time for you to sit in your ivory houses while mine goes to waste?" Well, how do these church folk think God and Jesus feel about their so-called hot and fiery praise and worship sessions while his sheep--for whom Christ died--are out there dying in the streets in gang/drug/turf wars, and/or perishing "for lack of (accurate) knowledge (about God and about themselves) ? Think about it. When we look at it this way, it is not these youth who are failing us. We are failing them.
As long as our suppose to be adults continues to not Know the Divine Truth/Reality, advocate, demand, and command our enslaved Ancestors Reparations, we have Divine Spiritual SAGGERS mind-set.

I see it now with a former co-worker's 13/year-old daughter who is on Facebook with the tart-wear. Her behaviour that the girl displays on FB is horrible and she is using her mother's e-mail address. I contacted this woman, I once called "friend", to warn her. Nothing came back. She alway claimed it would be different in her home. I am saddened at how the girl is portraying herself to the world as "hard candy" and is engaged in stuff way beyond her years and the clothing she wears. She will grow up to be like her mum, an unwed mother by age 17, or her stripper aunties. My former friend will blame society for her daughter and already had when the girl was acting up in grade school. It was always the fault of the teachers rather than looking at her child's behaviour. The kid was atrocious whenever I met my friend for lunch. I just shake my head at what has been allowed for this girl. I see "hard candy" out there. Sad.
