Unearthing African History

                                                     Unearthing African History

On Sunday November 18th the African Genesis Institute and the d’Zert Club sponsored renowned author, lecturer, Egyptologist and archeologist Anthony “Tony” Browder at the African American Museum in Philadelphia. The event was a book signing, lecture and slide presentation by the man behind the only African-American sponsored archeological dig in Egypt. Browder spoke on his ongoing archeological mission the ASA Restoration Project which is unearthing and restoring the tomb and temple of Karakhamun a 25th Dynasty Priest of Amun at Ipet Isut. Ipet Isut was renamed Karnak by the occupier Greeks.

Karakhamun was a member of the Kushite Africans from the interior who rose up and mobilized to restore Kemet to its former grandeur and greatness following Eurasian invaders (Libyan and Assyrian) who plundered, occupied and desecrated the land for several centuries. The 25th dynasty was the source of Kemet’s rebirth and renaissance prior to subsequent invasions by Indo-Europeans.

Tony Browder has had a extensive interest in corrective history, telling the history of Africans from an African perspective. Browder has traveled to Egypt numerous times on study tours with Dr. Ben, Asa Hilliard and others. He and others have championed the truth that Kemet was a thoroughly African nation/culture/society. On one of his many trips to Egypt he met Dr. Elena Pischikova an honest Egyptologist and archeologist who shared a find of the Kushite dynasty tombs and monuments with Tony. She lamented no Westerners were interested in furthering the excavation. Tony took the initiative to partner with her. He returned to the US and began raising the needed funds to continue her work; thus the ASA Restoration Project was born. Browder named it after his mentor the late scholar, historian and educator Asa Hilliard.

During the lecture Tony showed slides of the tomb/temple and elaborated on the various stages of the ongoing excavation and restoration. The ASA Restoration Project is a unique endeavor in that it is the only excavation and restoration supported and funded by African-Americans and Africans throughout the Diaspora. Browder is on a mission to complete the project, to bring forth the truth about Africa. Funds are continuously needed to complete the initiative. This project is supported primarily by African-Americans. You can be part of restoring our legacy and history.
