Day 1, Mon, Dec 01: Depart USA for Lagos, Nigeria from New York aboard Arik Airlines @ 12:00p, lunch, dinner free cocktails and film inflight
Day 2, Tue, Dec 02: LAGOS
0400a arrive Lagos, meet and greet and transfer to Eko Hotel or similar. Morning breakfast orientation, half day tour, courtesy call on the Oba of Lagos; plus lunch in a Nigerian restaurant. Afterwards return to your hotel for an evening forum with panelists. Naming ceremony, tailors to take your measurements for traditional clothes
Day 3, Wed, Dec 03:
After breakfast coastal cruise to Badagry ; west of Lagos at the Benin Republic border. Visit the Old slave market, slave trade museum and relics, Seriki Abbas compound, Gberefu beach. Lunch at The Whispering Palms Resort. Return to Lagos, overnight
Day 4, Thur, Dec 04:
After breakfast leave for Ibadan, visit the University and the African Studies Department. Overnight Premier Hotel or similar. Presentation by Runoko assisted by local historian on Yoruba history
Day 5, Fri, Dec 05:
After breakfast leave for Oshogbo with a stop in IFE, “Cradle of the Yoruba” and origin of the “IFE” heads, You will be welcomed by drummers and IFA priests at the Oba’s Palace and museum. After lunch continue to Oshogbo. Overnight
Day 6 Sat, Dec 06
After breakfast visit the Oshun Shrine Groves, venue for the annual festival for the fertility goddess “OSUN” Make a wish at the Shrine Return to Lagos. Evening farewell dinner and Fashion Show. A chance to showoff your new traditional clothes
Day 7 Sun, Dec 07: DOUALA
11am Depart Lagos, arriving Douala 12:40p Meet and greet and transfer to Starland hotel or similar Afternoon city tour and lunch. Evening presentation.
Day 8, Mon. Dec 08: DOUALA/KRIBI-SEASIDE RESORT
Transfer to the seaside city of Kribi, via Edea crossing Pont D’Allamand, (German Bridge) check into the Framotel or similar. After lunch take a pirogue ride to visit the Batwa (THE "PYGMIES") village of Lobe. Interact with the residents and study the lifestyle of the inhabitants of the Equatorial forest. Continue to the magnificent Lobe Water Falls (the Lobi River cascades down into the sea, a unique feature). Kribi overnight.
Day 9, Tues, Dec 09: KRIBI/BUEA
After breakfast, leave for Buea passing via Melong Arrival in Buea, the colonial capital of Cameroon under German rule in the 1930’s. We visit the old German colonial governor‘s residence standing majestically at the foot of mount Cameroon. Overnight Mountain Hotel or similar. Lecture German influence in Cameroon .
Day 10, Wed, Dec 10: BUEA-BANDJOUN-FOUMBAN
After breakfast head towards the Western region of Cameroon on the way visit the Bandjoun chefferie and museum to discover some of the rich cultural heritage of the Bamileke traditions in the west Region of the country’s highlands. Later continue to Foumban for dinner and overnight Paradise Hotel
Day 11, Thur, Dec 11: FOUMBAM-BAFOUSSAM-BEMENDA
Early morning after breakfast, welcomed with a dance show then visit to the Sultan’s palace and private Royal museum. Continue to the Sultan’s mosque and market and then the artisan market. After lunch drive to Bamenda, stopover in Bafut - the palace a (UNESCO World heritage site) constructed hundreds of years ago. See the mystical hut known as the “ACHUM”, and visit the museum. Enjoy a performance of traditional Juju mask dances. Drive to Bamenda for a city tour that takes us to the pres craft centre Commercial Avenue and the central market. Check into the hotel Ayamba or similar dinner and Overnight Presentation by local historian Chiefdoms of Cameroon
Day 12 Fri Dec 12: BAMENDA-BAFUT- BALI - DSCHANG
After breakfast, we drive to Bali, a traditional village 25 km from Bemenda with a big handicraft center. Visit the FON Palace of Bali. After lunch continue for Dschang for overnight at Centre Climatique Hotel.
Day 13, Sat, Dec 13: DSCHANG-DOUALA
After breakfast, visit the museum of civilization Museum and the FON Palace Visit the Fon palace of Bali; continue to Douala for overnight Farewell dinner ECO de Bananjo restaurant.
Day 14, Sun Dec 14: DOUALA-LAGOS –NEW YORK
Day at leisure for shopping. 6p flight to Lagos for your connecting flight to New York @ 11p
Day 15 Monday, Dec 15: 0450am arrival in New York.
