In January 2014 a nun in Italy gave birth to a baby boy and claimed she had not known that she was pregnant! In fact she is said to have exclaimed: "Impossible! I am a nun!" No matter, the baby arrived just the same and she named him after the present Pope Francis 1. This was promptly proclaimed a virgin birth! The nun is 33 year old Roxanna Rodriguez from El Salvador (South American like Pope Francis 1).
Many of us laughed! "The Catholic Church has really gone and done it this time!", we twittered. "They have turned comedian to entertain us with pseudo-blasphemy, apart from all their other 'vices' !", we tried to whisper but yelled instead. "Another virgin has had a child?"! "Not again, surely!", etc, etc. This time the child is not named Jesus son of God, although born in Jesus' Church. BUT Francis after the Pope! "Yeah, right! Pull the other one, why don't you"? We sniggered yet again.
Most of us, up till now, have heard of only one virgin birth and that is the one of Jesus Christ! Yet, it now turns out that the so-called holy virgin Mary, his mother, is in fact the devil. And Jesus Christ Himself is the One announcing this!
However, virgin births do occur in snakes and other reptiles! There lies the connection with the so-called Virgin Mary and the serpent called satan. That is if you are looking for such a connection.
The vital statistics concerning virgin births claimed by human women have been stated in certain scientific circles to equal one in ten million!
In reference to my anthropological research of the subject of CONSENSUAL SEX WITH VIRGINS WISHING TO REMAIN VIRGINS and as a sexpert (short for sexual expert) let me attempt to enlighten those who wish to be enlightened:
1. SEX BASED IN HYPOCRISY
Many of the women claiming to have virgin births do so because in fact they have engaged in non-penetrative sex whereby both sexual partners imagine mistakenly and probably out of sheer ignorance that a woman cannot get pregnant if there is no contact between the male and the female genitalia.
In fact, it is not the penetration that causes the pregnancy as many childless couples will confirm, BUT the spermatozoa in the man's semen coming into contact with the woman's ovum. Now, if the mating couple expose each other to one another's naked genitals, EVEN WITHOUT CONTACT, ( in certain cases merely to the pant area that covers the woman's open vagina), the chances of the woman falling pregnant at the time of the man's ejaculation increase many times over due to the high speed at which the sperm travels towards the ovaries of the woman searching for an egg to fertilise. The hymen may appear to remain intact but full sexual intercourse has occurred and pregancy can easily result.
Many people practice this form of sex quite legitimately. Roman Catholic married couples who try to follow the papal edict of NO CONTRACEPTIVES use it as a form of family planning. Very often it does NOT work.
In the case of a virgin not wanting to lose her apparent virginity by attempting to preserve the hymen intact while at the same time being sexually active, it is merely a matter of HYPOCRISY ! It may be argued that cultural and/or religious diktats do often force lovers to this kind of covert sexual activity. That may be so, BUT this activity is still classed as hypocritical.

A young woman from the Mamba clan of Buganda once boasted to me that girls in her clan used to
get married with their virginity intact despite having been sexually active before the wedding. Moslem women told me of fiances who are so impatient to have sex that their intendeds consent to sodomy for long periods before their wedding - all this merely to maintain the false image of virginity! Why, on earth should these calculations not be used or abused by Catholic nuns. They are still not failsafe, obviously.

Sister Rodriguez claimed she did not know she was pregnant. She is 33 years old and would have noticed the missing monthly periods covering all of nine months! So, did she or did she not have periods during this pregnancy?
Quite often, and I suspect this to have been the case with Sister Roxanna Rodriguez, nobody takes the trouble to do an ante-natal examination for the purposes of determining the existence of a hymen. I do not blame doctors, midwives and/or other medical personnel - especially ambulance staff - who, when confronted with a woman in labour, naturally assume she has had sex and could not possibly be a virgin at the same time! They just deliver baby and cannot turn back the clock to remember whether or not it is a virgin birth or otherwise.
The probability of a liar claiming virgin birth is quite high! Some women do tell lies and many of them are pathological with it. Where other women would simply admit to having had sex, they prefer to maintain the pretence of virginity and turn themselves into mere attention seekers and other psychological disorder sufferers.
Sister Rodriguez' Mother Superior stated matter-of-factly that the nun had succumbed to temptation. Mother Superior does not believe it was a virgin birth. I do not blame her.
3.BENEFIT-OF-THE-DOUBT VIRGIN BIRTHS - DO THESE REALLY EXIST?
There exists a scientific theory that a woman may have hermaphroditic ovaries where one of her ovums has male characteristics and combines with another ovum to form the zygote that eventually becomes a perfectly formed baby in her womb. I imagine that if this were posssible and it were to happen to a virgin, she would have a virgin birth. In my view, this is too far fetched! However, there is the benefit of the doubt.
4. GOD'S MIRACLES
I believe in God's miracles as I experience them almost on a daily basis in my own life. So why not the miracle of a virgin birth?
