children, and in particular, our African American males. No matter which state you live in, the plight of African American males is the same. We must collectively strategize to stop the cradle to prison pipeline. Education has been and will continue to be the most effective road out of poverty and distress. We urge you now to be a part of the transformation that is taking place in American. Join us in utilizing the Blueprint for Action and the Black Male Action Planning that is now being used in numerous states and jurisdictions. Finally, you will also get a chance to hear from those who are working with President Obama's White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African American students. This will be a historic convening and, we encourage you to provide input into the policy direction that the organization is undertaking. We sincerely hope that you will accept this invitation, place it high on your priority list and join us in Chicago. May you continue to be blessed with wisdom, courage and strength as we collectively seek solutions that will help our children to excel.
Respectfully,
Dr. Shelia Evans-Tranumn

Asa G. Hilliard III Research Seminar
 Convened by Dr. Eric Cooper
 Keynote Speaker:
Linda Darling-Hammond
The legacy of Dr. Asa G. Hilliard III is a conceptual river which runs deep and wide in African-American and education communities. Among other sources, his scholarship was navigated in a discussion with Reuven Feuerstein, the eminent cognitive psychologist, who shared at Yale University, that a people robbed of their culture will struggle until the cultural is rediscovered. Dr. Feuerstein suggested he return to the Blue Nile to study and embrace the roots of his race. This seminar embraces the socio-cultural context of learning, draws on an urban/suburban pedagogy, and provides guidance gained from social science and neuroscience research. Register Now
