BLACK IS BACK COALITION TO HOLD NATIONAL RALLY, MARCH AND TOWN HALL MEETING TO STOP IMPERIALIST WARS AND BUILD THE RESISTANCE
The Black is Back Coalition for Social Justice, Peace and Reparations – an African led Coalition – will, for a third consecutive year, forward the demand for a peace agenda that necessitates an end to imperialism and will also continue to build a just resistance to imperialism itself.
WASHINGTON, DC–October 17, 2011 –The Black is Back Coalition for Social Justice, Peace and Reparations will hold a Rally, March and Town hall Meeting on Saturday, November 5thin Philadelphia under the slogan “Stop the Wars! Build the Resistance!”
The Black is Back Coalition recognizes and opposes the many imperialist wars being carried out against the majority of the world’s people. Throughout the Middle East, in North Africa, in the Americas, in North American concentration camps euphemistically referred to as Indian reservations, in the internal colonies—the Barrios and the criminalized African communities of North America, Europe and Australia and on the African Continent imperialist wars are being waged.
The people are not silent, though, they are fighting back. They are resisting and the Black is Back Coalition unites with this resistance and supports African and oppressed people in their struggles to regain their resources, sovereignty and dignity.
For a third straight year the Black is Back Coalition will denounce imperialism and imperialist warfare while also building resistance to it. Philadelphia has been chosen for the organization’s mobilization this year since the city represents the epitome of both imperialist warfare and righteous resistance.
Philadelphia is where the U.S. use of mass imprisonment as a modern form of population control and colonial slavery and where the death penalty and political incarceration of colonized people is exemplified in the cases of Mumia Abu Jamal and the MOVE 9.
It is also a city where anti-imperialist mayoral candidate Wali “Diop” Rahman, a member of the Black is Back Coalition,has put forth a campaign based on real peace and social justice.
On November 5th the Black is Back Coalition intends to open up another front of resistance and also change the contours of the political terrain in Philadelphia by forcing a public anti-imperialist discussion that will expose neocolonial, indirect imperialist rule used against the peoples of Philadelphia, the U.S. and the world.
The rally starts at 12 noon at Broad and Susquehanna. March starts at 2pm at Broad and Susquehanna and travels south down Broad St., ending at Broad and Thompson. Town hall meeting begins at 3pm at 1310 N Broad St (between Thompson and Master) and ends at 7pm.
The Black is Back Coalition for Social Justice, Peace and Reparations was formed on September 12, 2009. Its members include a wide sector of the African movement from a variety of political and ideological persuasions whose objective is to forge a common anti-imperialist agenda. It is headquartered in Washington, DC.
