One of the distinguished AWEA Living Legends recipients is Nana Rita Marley, wife of reggae icon Bob Marley. Mrs. Marley celebrated her 69th birthday over the weekend in Nassau surrounded by family and friends who wished her well on being named a recipient of the award. Mama Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sir leaf, former Malawi President Joyce Banda, and the former First Lady of Kenya, Mama Ngina Kenyatta recently received the AWEA in South Africa in June during the African Union Summit. AU African Diaspora Forum gives Women of Excellence Awards Marley, a musician, entrepreneur and philanthropist said, “I am honored, happy and humbled to be considered for the AWEA...”
