I was moved to tears by my experience at the National Black Wall Street Chicago "Recovery 2012: The Black Business Solution" event on Saturday, November 10, 2012. The privilege and opportunity to meet all the guests was quite intellectually stimulating.

But the experience of hearing legendary speakers such as Ed Gardner (Founder of Soft Sheen Products), John Clark (President and CEO of Reggio's Pizza) and Ken Bennett (Regional Representative for the U.S. Secretary of Labor) was a deep awakening.

The event reminded me it is imperative for positive change agents to band together against any foe that attempts to impede economic recovery or progress of predominately Black communities.

Super Storm Sandy 2012 in lower Manhattan, New York

Every oppressed culture has a story to tell about how the U.S. economic crisis has obstructed their ability to live.

Then there are stories behind natural disasters imposed on humanity by catastrophes such as Hurricane Katrina and Super Storm Sandy.

Nevertheless, it seems that Black American's suffer most in any U.S. adversity. For this reason, I am grateful for the nudge or reality check delivered in the messages of everyone who participated in the National Black Wall Street Chicago event.

It was encouraging to see strong Black men and women come together for a common cause. For instance, paving the way to reconciliation of differences, Mark Allen, Chairman of National Black Wall Street Chicago openly and proudly acknowledged Mr. Ron Carter for his work as the Founder and Chairman of Chicago Black Wall Street and Publishing Editor of the legendary South Street Journal Newspaper.

Mr. Carter did not hesitate to join in the discussion by delivering a hardcore message to elected officials in the audience. Both Chairman Allen and Chairman Carter spoke boldly with no uncertain terms. More specifically, they demanded that elected officials work more diligently toward the specific agenda of "Black Economic Recovery."

Thank you Chairman Mark Allen (NBWC), Angela Williams (NBWC Districts Executive Officer), Ariana Clayter (NBWC Executive Director), and John Porter (NBWC Strategic Planning Officer) for creating a platform where the Black community can engage in real talk about The Black Business Solution...

And I deeply appreciate everyone who contributed to your success.

Black Wall Street Chicago Members are invited to support Chairman Mark Allen as a nominee for an achievement award by attending our SBND Community Enterprise Achievement Gala on Saturday, November 17, 2012 from 5:00 pm to 8:15 pm at Chicago South Loop Hotel, 11 West 26th Street, Chicago, IL 60616.

I also respectfully request Mr. Ken Bennett, Mr. Ed Gardner and John Clark to attend as my honorary guests in recognition for their legendary achievements in building and supporting successful Black Owned businesses.

Likewise, I am extending a personal invitation to Mr. Harold Lucus for the work he has done to maintain the historic Black Metropolis in the Bronzeville Community.

These gentleman along with National Black Wall Street Chicago are growing monuments of pride in communities that need it most.
