On Wednesday, October 3rd, more than 50 community business people and influential residents gathered for a live jazz fundraiser in support of State Senator Eric Adams' candidacy for Brooklyn Borough President in 2013.
A product of New York City's public school system, Eric Adams has served the people of Brooklyn for more than a quarter century, first with the New York City Police Department, and as State Senator representing the 20th senatorial district of Brooklyn since 2007. Now that current Borough President Marty Markowitz cannot run for re-election due to term limit laws, Eric is ready to take his commitment to serve the people of Brooklyn to the next level.
Throughout his years of public service, Adams understands the needs of Brooklyn's diverse population and has worked effectively with community groups and civic organizations on various matters, including employment, housing, urban economic development, public education, and political accountability.
In Eric Adams' words, “Obama made history in 2008 by becoming the first African American President of the United States. Now the residents of Brooklyn have an opportunity to make history by electing me as the first African American President of our glorious borough of Brooklyn."
This community supported fundraiser, hosted by Michael Howard and Up Over Jazz Productions featuring the music of Stanley Banks and Friends, hopes to encourage other residents to do their part in making Eric Adams our next Brooklyn Borough President.
