Sistas2Daughters MiniConference: "SISTAHOOD: Taking It Higher"
brought to you by Action Leadership Institute-Kuumba Promos
with Coordination Support from Dr. Preselfannie McDaniels & Baba Asinia Lukata Chikuyu

Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Farish Street Missionary Baptist Church

The "Sistas2Daughter MiniConference" (S2D) is a special "Direct Action" initiative that is a part of the Sistahood Empowerment Initiative of the Action Leadership Institute/Kuumba Promos collaboration. The direct action of this project is targeted at empowering Our Daughters to aspire towards Queenhood.

S2D is a positive proactive intervention and risk prevention initiative. S2D provides holistic interaction geared to and for girls of African descent ages 13-19 and Mature Adults/Elders. The initiative is uniquely designed to counter and eliminate the negative influences and thought processes, lack of self-esteem, lack of discipline, etc., that dominates the psyche of too many of our prospective Community Queens To Be.

The strategic process and administration of this project has been developed especially for young black females to raise their sense of self efficacy and cultural pride. S2D is designed by New Afrikan [Black] Fathers and Mothers who have a strong vested interest in the positive development of Our Daughters. Recognizing the holistic nature and gender balance of family is the reason both Fathers and Mothers are intricately involved in the organizing and coordination of the overall Sistahood Empowerment Initiative.

These adults have a deep appreciation for Black/African history, cultures, traditions and recognize the power of racial identity in equipping our children with the tools for higher learning. Further, these Black Fathers & Mothers are genuinely concerned and committed to proper soulutions/remedies for issues that impact Our Daughters.

The Sistas2Daughters MiniConference is a new fetus born out of the Sistahood Empowerment Initiative that brought forth the Annual African-American Women's History Month Symposium hosted by Kuumba Promos & PR Services and Jackson State University’s Student Organizations in the Dept. of English and Modern Foreign Languages. Just as it is a new life that can give new hope to young black girls, it could also become the prototype life force for similar projects that improves the quality of life for young girls "at-risk" of the social vices that negatively impact young people’s lives.

The "success" of the Sistas2Daughters MiniConference is directly tied to the forward thinking powers and benevolent of Jackson and Mississippi. The Fathers & Mothers involved in the coordination and implementation for this project pray that the leadership of this community do in fact have both the vision and the caring heart to support this endeavor.

If so, please call 601.957.2969 to offer your support.
