REVEREND JESSE L. JACKSON, SR. AND RAINBOW PUSH COALITION DEDICATE SATURDAY MORNING BROADCAST TO MEMORY of Hadiya Pendleton 15-YEAR-OLD DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING COLLEGE PREP HIGH SCHOOL HONOR STUDENT AND MAJORETTE GUNNED DOWN AFTER SCHOOL, LESS THAN A MILE AWAY FROM PRESIDENT'S HOME
Chicago, IL (Thursday,January 31, 2013) —Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. and Rainbow PUSH Coalition dedicate the Saturday Morning Broadcast to the memory Hadiya Pendleton of the latest gun violence victim, and offer prayer and condolences to the family and all families who have been victims of gun violence. Rev. Jackson and Rainbow PUSH Coalition continue the call for immediate reform on gun control and the ban on assault weapons. The founder and the organization demonstrate the criticalness of these reforms after yet another tragedy involving Hadiytah Pendleton, the15-year-old Chicago, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. College Prep high school honor student and majorette. The King College Prep student stopped at a nearby park less than a mile from President Obama’s home, to avoid the rain, when shot in the back several times, while trying to escape a gunman. The gunman is still at large.
Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. states “With each passing shot, the call for gun reform becomes more critical because of the stinging pain of past tragedies; we must work diligently to break this cycle of violence to prevent future tragedies”.
