This year’s Left Forum - May 20 – 22 - will offer something fundamentally different from conventional politics and from the current presidential election mainstream media hype. The Left Forum will gather and build on the growing consciousness that basic social problems are sharpening in ways that traditional politicians, journalists, and academics rarely admit and do not even begin to solve.
The Forum will again engage the forces and movements making basic progressive social change, and the big issues that will no longer be kept out of the public discussion.
The Forum will again take place at the new spacious and social friendly conference center at John Jay College. With its ample and open panel and workshop rooms, large atriums and lobbies, and its cafeteria and large halls, the space is compatible with the important work of building the dialogues, debates, and movements that have come to embody the twelve year history of the Left Forum.
This is a space that uniquely enables book publishers and grassroots organizations to be in the main flow of traffic.
And with its black box theatre and exciting outdoor spaces with Greek theatre style seating this conference space will once again open the door for Left Forum to embrace and showcase the arts.
