Recently our imbecile in chief announced he wanted everyone to call Artificial Intelligence (aka AI) Super Intelligence and anyone who refused would be considered an enemy! How’s that for megalomaniacal thinking and bombast? Now Trump wants to dictate the words, phrases and language we use and intimidate us if we don’t comply by referring to dissidents as “the enemy”. Wow you can’t make this stuff up.
On the other hand, technocrats seem to believe and they expect us to go along with their inane notion, AI is the new god. They want us to believe Artificial Intelligence is a living, sentient entity; when in fact it is not, it is at this point a process created by human engineers, programmers and coders. They would have us believe AI is a self-cognitive entity, it is not; it is programmed by humans, and we have seen in the past, with computer programming, that the end result is always based in the input. An entity will always reflect the consciousness, values, biases and motivations of its creators.
We experienced that reality when personal computers came on the scene and computer programs and software became ubiquitous. We learned about the truth of GIGO, garbage in garbage out. But we have seemed to forgotten those experiences and lessons. We need to be cautious about uncritically listening to their siren song because inherent in this assumption is the notion they too are greater than THE CREATOR because they created it! The Last Poets had a piece called The White Man’s Got a God Complex, and they do. They think they can usurp the natural order that they can outdo and better THE CREATOR. This is what transhumanism is all about the melding of humans with technology. Their AI is merely the tip of the spear. This is the mentality behind Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO), geoengineering and their beliefs their medicines and injections are superior to our immune systems which is Divinely programmed Intelligence within us! Beware this type of arrogance and egotistical posturing, it can lead to disaster.
Everything humans invent is an extension of our consciousness, values and motivation. The Chinese invented exploding black powder. They used it for medicinal purposes, ceremonies, rituals and fireworks. Later they used it as a weapon. The Europeans saw it and immediately used it as a weapon for mass destruction!
The Wright brothers invented a heavier than air flying machine, within a few short years, Europeans were using airplanes to drop bombs and shoot at their fellow humans in a global conflagration because they have a consciousness and value for war and killing.
I am not opposed to “progress” but progress is relative. To one person or group progress means them having the power to lord it over and oppress the rest of us. To another, progress means furthering brotherhood, justice and empathy. I say we rethink the acronym AI and reimagine and redefine it as: Activated Intuition, Ancestral Ingenuity, Aboriginal Intelligence and Knowledge.
The Akan people have a word Sankofa, it means to go back, retrieve that which is good and carry it forward. We need to go back and relearn our ancient wisdom and ways of being: Ubuntu (I am, we are because the universe exists, the universe exists because we are in it) Ma’at (Divine Order, Truth, Harmony, Balance, Justice, Reciprocity and Righteousness), cooperative work and responsibility and being accountable to and for each other. This beats the current notions and hoopla of AI any day.
