[ NCOBNE] BLACK ELDERS ON RADIO: DISCUSSION ABOUT

IMPORTANCE OF PRESERVING OUR LEGACIES

By The Newport Newservice

MARCH 16, 2010

DREWRYVILLE, VA – Khalifah’s Booknotes, a Radio Show of Book Reviews, Critical  Commentary and Discussion about Reparations, both current and historic events, will feature a 2-hour discussion about The National Black Elders Conference, Wednesday between 6 P.M. and 8 P.M. ( www.ncobne.com ): Questions and one minute commentaries will be taken from listerners at 15 minute intervals during the program.

Some details will be unveiled about the formatting of systems The Coalition of Black Elders (NCOBNE) are building to “gather, preserve and disseminate” the essence of the legacies of Black Men and Women who attain to the age of Eldership, in the United States of America.

Eldership for Black people is not a small achievement: Too many fall for lack of knowledge about how to survive in the first “experiment” the (U.S.A.) in establishing a sociological system based on White Supremacy Doctrine, Thought and Practice. Many times those who does survive “chattel slavery, 2nd class citizenship, Jim Crow Segregation and other form of oppression” spend an inordinate amount of energy on survivor, rather than engaging in processes to throw off the oppression and reclaim all that was loss.

STRAINS OF BLACK NATIONALISM IN ALL BLACK PEOPLE

However, there is a class of individuals who both survive and manage to attain to Eldership in Oppression. At the upper end of the list of survivors are Black men who are avowed Black Nationalist. They, live by principles based on the Practice and Thought of successful Black Elders before their time; i.e. Marcus Garvey, Elijah Muhammad, Imari Obadele, and others whose life clearly articulate some strategies for surviving, and also make an indentation into the lives of Black people in the Greater National Black Community. But of course, the greatest beneficiaries are their followers who try to live the dictum of formations they build verbatim.

While the mass majority of Black people would not avow Black Nationalism as an abiding philosophy in life, if they were effective in living their lives, beyond survival and enriching themselves, in the experiment in “Capitalism and White Supremacy” to serve and help others, they too used strains of Black Nationalist “Thought and Practice.” It was/is simply a matter of the degree to which this innate quality of individual self is abided in within their lives.

COMPREHENSIVE BLACK ELDERS MARKETPLACE

With the above as the premise, all Black Elders are qualified to be part of The Black Elders Coalition to #1. Systematically gather the Essence of Legacies of contemporary, as well as Black Ancestors #2. The Coalition will preserve the Legacies in Systems that will have a retrieval/sharing component that is easy to access by those so interested and #3. The Coalition will build a comprehensive, community–wide Black Elders Marketplace to sell the intellectual and products of Black Elders (www.ncobne.com): earning cash for the Elder and to independently empower NCOBNE.

Black individuals who are not Elders, can take out a Membership Account for a living relative or friend; or they can SPONSOR an account for an historic Black Ancestors.

The Black Elders discussion, on radio Wednesday Evening, will be led by H. Khalif Khalifah. He will be joined by Elders Herman Ferguson, Kwasi Akyeambong, Paul I. Banks and Author Sherman Jones.

All who care to enjoin the discussion, please call the Blog Talk Radio Platform at 1-347-637-2706. Go www.ncobne.com for more information about The Black Elders Conference and The National Coalition of Black Elders.
