Radio frequency Identification or RFID is a use of electromagnetic field of radio frequency in which wireless non contact technology is used. It is a technology which is very similar to the bar code identification in theory. These systems can be used in every field from food packaging tags to the jet plans, just anywhere that an identification system of unique code is required. It enables a non contact reading or writing of data. The radio frequency identification technology is used to identify and track the tags attached to objects containing electronically stored information.

The RFID system contains an antenna to receive and a transmitter to transmit the information. It also requires a transponder and a tag. The design of RF ID contains terms like tags, readers, frequencies, signaling and miniaturization. The tags are integrated circuits which contain RF circuitry and the information which is required to get transmitted. These integrated circuits use the electronic fields and the electromagnetic field induction to get powered and read at certain distances and then act as passive transponder to radiate the Ultra High Frequency (UHF) and micro waves. The tags are basically the label attached to any object to be identified. Readers are of three types Passive reader active tags, active reader active tags and active reader passive tag. The frequencies are of four types, like Low, high, ultra high and microwave frequencies. Signaling used to be done between the reader and the tag. It is a type of data transfer or information transfer. Miniaturization is basically reducing the size of the devices to make them comfortable to carry.

The RFID is used in the access management, collections in toll, parking systems, pet tracking, the travel documents which are machine readable, authenticity verification, logistics tracking and the human identifications. It has several concerns like the data flooding, global standardization, security concerns, exploitation, some socials concerns and temperature exposure. The RF ID tracking has opened a new era of technology to provide the people a better and easy life but still there are many issues which need a special concern.
