One can only free a free man.
One can really free no one.
You can only free someone who is already free.
You can not free anyone, really.
No one is ever liberated or is free or even freed by himself or unto himself;
however, a free man must free himself.
Only an already free man can free himself.

Why would a free man need to free himself?

History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid.

DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER, inaugural address, Jan. 20, 1953

"Men think in herds, go mad in herds, but recover their senses

one by one." -- Charles Mackay

    • Ask Sojourner Truth "Why would a free man need to free himself?"

Was it Sojourner Truth who said that she could free thousands more slaves but they did not know that they were free?

So then, "Why would a free man need to free himself?"

Remember, Nelson Mandel was IMPRISONED for 27 years and he was a FREE MAN for all those 27 years.

Look around, see all those FREE pigeons. They are FREE to go and live in the forest yet they stick around to forage for crumbs. If we took them away to the forest. They'll come back.

Does this look like anyone one familiar.

Thanks for sharing your point-of -view.

    And that only your point-of-the-view.

    Thanks for sharing.

I am puzzled as to why you'd share your point-of-view, your opinion, with me, one person, and not seek to engage ALL our brothers and sister in a conversation about being free.

One possible thing that 'got-able' from our dialogue is that you and I are having a conversation that only free engage in.

People who are not free do not have conversation about being free.

Such a conversation is anathema to them - people who are not free.

Being enslaved does not make one a slave.

One can be enslaved and still be free.

Only a freeman - like Nat Turner, rebels against his enslavement.

To quote Nat Turner as he stood on the gallows, "I'd rather die a freeman than live a slave".

Was it Sojourner Truth who said that she could free thousands more slaves but they did not know that they were free?

It takes a free man to free himself.

P.S.: If should be clear by now that I do not speak to get agreement. My speaking is designed to challenge strongly held beliefs and ways of being.
