P.O.P. ELDER MEMBER TO BE CITED FOR ROLE IN FOUNDING OF KWANZAA!
Williams, now75, was a part of the group that hosted the founding first Kwanzaa in Los Angeles in 1966. He has been an established participant and consultant on the celebration for decades!
Among others who will also be cited for similar recognition will be Balozi Harvey, Barbara King and Katunge Mimy. Harvey was pivotal in establishing Kwanzaa in Newark. King was a young participant in its establishment in Newark in 1968. Mimy, an African dancer, has also been an important living for resource for Kwanzaa for many years.
“Aminifu Williams is one of the most important human resources for our struggle that I have ever known,” said a proud Lawrence Hamm, POP’s founding chairman.
“I am very grateful for his tireless work for our organization, and I couldn’t be more proud of him,” he finished beamingly.
This special gathering will take place in Newark City’s Hall Rotunda at 5pm…
