1. We are Moving! After 15 years we are moving our office to the Friendship Heights area of Northwest DC. Our totally renovated and much larger office is more suitable for our growth. Members of the NBCC travelling to the DC area will be allowed to use our new conference room for appointments. Requests should be made at least two weeks in advance and will be made on a first come, first served basis. You are going to love the place!
2. A Successful Pan African Conference: Our first PanAfrican Entrepreneurs Conference was an absolute success. We will now begin to follow up with the nations that participated. Those registrants with voting rights will be asked to prioritize which nations we shall have Trade Missions. Among the nations are: Cameroon, Ghana, Equatorial Guinea, Kenya, Zambia, Nigeria, Trinidad Tobago, Surinam, France. For a photo gallery of the event go here.
3. Working with the EXIM Bank: As a follow up of their presentation at our recent conference, we will be giving workshops on how to access financing through the EXIM Bank, MCC and OPIC. These workshops, Exporting 101, will be for seasoned businesses interested in international trade. Those who are interested in participating should contact Chuck DeBow at cdebow@nationalbcc.org.
4. Wireless Taxes Continue to Increase: Most local governments are leaning more and more on the pockets of cell phone users. Here are two articles that discuss this menace to our consumable dollars and what we can do to stop it. We must become more active in the policy issue.
5. Tis the Season: As you think of Holiday ideas please remember that membership to the NBCC is tax deductible and fuels the “engine” that fights for good economic policy and your business growth. Take out your 2013 membership today it is quite simple.
