MILLION WOMAN MARCH 15th YEAR ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATION "FROM MARCH TO MOVEMENT"The historic Million Woman March (MWM) is the largest gathering in the world of women anywhere ever.
This makes MWM not only Black History and Women's History, but also World History.
While many historians, scholars, etc. have fail to take note of this fact and great accomplishment. MWM
On October 25, 2012, (that will mark the 15th year anniversary) the visionary, architect, and President General of the MWM, Sis. Empress Phile' Chionesu (Empress Chi) will hold a Press Conference to officially announce plans for the long awaited Million Woman March "SWEET 16" Reunion and National "AMANDLA" Convention that will take place in October 2013. This gathering and related activities/event is the first major national and international initiative since the 1997 assembly that took place in Philly, PA.
The Thurs. October 25th Press Conference will be held at Willie Williams Community Center (the first Black Fire House in Philadelphia) at 6:30 p.m. followed by a Town Hall Village Meeting (7:00 p.m.) that will enable one on one dialog regarding strategies that will be implemented to pro-actively address some of the socio-political issues and concerns that the MW Movement is committed to and that is a part of the MWM dynamic "Five Year DIRECT ACTION" Plan for POWER, PROSPERITY, & PEACE. This groundbreaking self-determination oriented "Black Print" is designed to advance and elevate spiritual development, business, commerce and political power, and of course much needed family, community, and nation building programs, ventures, and collective collaborations.
Information will also be provide regarding major initiatives such as the National Campaign for the "Elimination of Violence and Abuse of Women and Girls of African Descent" the "IN THE BLACK" & BBB-Co (community economic advancement, business & finance development, and wealth building)g Programs, and the National/International Human Rights Project, to name a few
A few of the initiatives that the Universal Million Woman Movements will now bring forward includes the building of an independent school for girls,the establishment of the MWM Africana Women's Institute & Culture and Arts Center, the development of a community based Holistic Health and Healing Center, and a program that will provide training and employment for women of African descent who are in or trying to come out of abusive and destructive situations; as well as those who have been formerly incarcerated. Specific projects have also been formulated to address some of the issues and concerns regarding young girls (Black/Africana females between 7-17), and to assure that this is done as qualitatively and successfully as possible, MWM is declaring the year 2013 The National "Year of The Black Girl" (YO-TBG) . Programs for this project include the Lil' Sistahs and "Saving Our Daughters" program (Rites of Passage/Sistoring,Scholarships, etc.) and the "Diamonds in the Ruff" program to name a few. The YO-TBG Campaign will also connect groups and organizations, nationwide, that are involved in positive youth development work and programs and that want to link and synchronize with others similar and like minded entities who are also serious about helping to change the present destructive paradigm that has targeted, particularly young females of African descent, but also our children and young adults in general.
Along with numerous programs and Special Projects that has been formulated to now implement solution oriented actions regarding pertinent issues of the day that effect our families and communities such as: Racism and Sexism in the 21st century, Gender Related Violence and Abuse of Women & Girls, Human/Natural Rights issues, Incarceration, Homelessness, Environmental concerns, Gentrification/Land Grabbing, etc., MWM now offers a variety of memberships that includes special interest, professional, arts and culture, business, finance and wealth building, international affairs, health, etc. The Thurs.
