Fathers In Philadelphia "Stepping Up And Out"
Escorting Children On First Day Of 2011 School Year
In a September 3, 2009 article published by The Philadelphia Tribune, Mayor Nutter stated that the National Million Father March had the potential to change the entire city of Philadelphia and that "involvement should run deeper than a walk on the first day of school and extend to the whole year and beyond".
The City of Philadelphia was one of 609 cities throughout the United States that participated in the National 2010 Million Fathers March which encouraged fathers in every neighborhood throughout the City of Philadelphia to escort their children to school on the first day of the 2010-2011 academic year and to play a proactive role in their children's education.
