Chicago-Midwest

August is Black Business Month where the Black community should be celebrating the successes of  its community businesses , but in the middle of the celebration is the plans to escalate consumer education and consumer action to protect John Clark and Reggios's Pizza, under attack by some major corporations under clear violation of the principles of Dr. Martin Luther King's Poor People's Economic Campaign.

John Clark, owner of Reggio's Pizza (The only Black Owned Pizza manufacturing Company in the world) spoke at our Monday meeting of United American Progress Association and Black Wall Street Chicago while one of his employees, Martha Lowery, gave out samples of pizza. We discussed the boycott of "Target" stores that won't stock Reggios pizza. He also informed us that CVS and Walgreens refuse to stock his Pizza. Hear a statement from John, the Reggio pizza man!

Didn't Dr Martin Luther King, Jr tell us during the Poor People's Campaign that poor people should not use their consumer spending power to empower corporations that would not engage in financial benefits agreements with the local businesses from those core communities so where us our insult level when hundreds of our people could be working in legal jobs from these products like Reggio's being on the shelves.  Where is Dr. King's Poor People's Economic principles today??

The Rev Willie T. Barrow Consumer Education and Consumer Action Project of Black Wall Street Chicago says that we must now use the visibility of Minister Louis Farrakhan and The Nation Islam, Father Pfleger of St. Sabina and more Black churches, civic and political groups to take this street presence into direct consumer education and consumer action against those corporations who violate the Black business community! Major corporations need to be challenged on the community conscious accountability. How dare they sit in our community with the double digit unemployment and economic violence and dare not use their power to put products on the shelves like Reggio's and others that could put hundreds on more community residents to work.
