Veteran activists Wallace "Gator" Bradley and Mark S. Allen joint statement regarding the BGA/Media attacks on Larry Huggins and Terry Peterson.
"These men (Huggins, Peterson and others) did nothing wrong for they and other business, spiritual and community leaders, elected and appointed official stood together UNITED IN PEACE, in the African-American communities across this city inclusive of the messages sent to the streets by Larry Hoover and other brothers on the streets and behind those walls. We know because we stood with them and together we addressed the problem of Senseless Shootings and Killing of African-Americans by other African-Americans. In the 90's it was 1000 homicides a year, because we stood United as a people it came down to at least 500, and the numbers got lower and lower each year without giving credit to the seeds that were planted from the very first Gang/Peace Summit.
As Bradley prepares to attend the upcoming Congressional Black Caucus conference in Washington DC, Bradley went on to state that "There is an attack on our leaders because conversation is now based around a national movement asking that a delegation led by Congressman Rush and Rev. Al Sharpton inclusive of a doctor and someone from the United Nations Human Rights Commission be allowed to see Larry Hoover so that the world in general, and the African-American communities across America and in Chicago in particular can see and hear him say that just like he believe in public safety and education for this children, grandchildren and family, he want the same for everyone; and that we all have to work together to turn the tide against Senseless Shootings and Killings. And that there is no love, honor or respect for people who support or who engage in Senseless Shootings and Killings. People from across the country in African-American communities will be calling on members of the Congressional Black Caucus asking for their support."
