Walking While Black!

“I’m walking while black, but I’m still walking by faith!”
We must stop these Barbaric Acts .In America. I’m walking while Black!
Walking while black, coming from 7-11 with my snacks
Some skittles, Arizona Ice Tea in a can
Just wanna get home and see the All Star game with my fam.
Now I’m being followed by a strange man
Called my friend on the phone tried to send her a text
Damn, wish I had a bullet proof vest.
Another innocent soul outta here
Fast forward about a year
Just what the people feared
A kangaroo court
Where’s the jury of my peers?
Where’s the diversity? Sexually, racially, where’s the people who look like me?
Where’s your conscience, where’s your soul?
I’ll never reach my dreams and goals
But you made me a martyr. A sacrifice word to Christ
Now I hope my people struggle
So you don’t take another life
We must stop these Barbaric Acts .In America. I’m walking while Black!
Up in the Bronx where the people are fresh
I’m an honor student
Blessed
Just passed another test
Feeling like the bomb
Wanna go home to show my moms
All of the sudden these cop cars swarm
All I here is up against the wall
They put their fingers through my toes, my ass and my balls
Searched my back pack my books fell to the ground
If I resist I’m locked down or heaven bound
I’m feeling powerless, bruised and abused
I usually only see this on the news
I cry, shake it off, get back on my feet
Cause I could have been charged
With possession of concrete
We must stop these Barbaric Acts .In America. I’m walking while Black!
