The Sistahood Empowerment Initiative will empower young women and girls with information to unlock the doors of opportunity for African American young women and girls. The Sistahood Empowerment Initiative will empower young women and girls by providing them with information that relates to their sense of self-efficacy. Through the Sistahood Empowerment Initiative, the Action Leadership Institute-Kuumba Promos will coordinate the Sistas2Daughters Mini-Conference bi-annually to further empower our daughters.
The first Sistas2Daughters Mini-Conference is scheduled for Saturday, March 24, 2012 - 8am - 2pm at Farish Street Missionary Baptist Church, 619 North Farish Street in Jackson, Mississippi. As an outgrowth of the Annual Women's History Month Empowerment Symposiums held at Jackson State University on the past six years, the Sista2Daughter Mini-Conference will seek to personally empower our daughters with the mother-wit of Community Elders and Mature Adult Sistas.
the Sistahood Empowerment Conference will empower young women with information about Sheroes of History (Ourstory), Economic Self Sufficiency, and Cultural Development & Enrichment. Based on the premise that relevant education is the key to unlock the doors of opportunity, the Sistahood Empowerment Conference will empower young women by providing them with information that relates to their sense of self-efficacy. Knowing the great work of the women of the Civil Rights Movement will provide role models for today's young women to be change-makers. Better understanding money management and economic self-sufficiency will empower young women to focus on family rather than surviving poverty.
