In dedication of their service and in honor of Chicago’s spiritual gospel history makers and civil rights activists, the We Women Empowered group is holding an awards ceremony staring at 6:30 p.m., Monday, April 22, 2013, at Josephine’s (Hardtimes) Cooking Restaurant, 436 E. 79th St., Chicago, IL.
Giving credit where it is long overdue, the We Women Empowered is celebrating the life and legacy of such great gospel spiritual leaders like the late gospel artist Albertina Walker and the labor and lobbying civil rights work of the late Rev. Addie Wyatt who ultimately became president of the local Amalgamated Meat Cutters and Butcher Workmen of North America.
Other similar gospel giants will be honored.
