The African Heritage Asuwa-Academy
A Great Black Books Seminar on
Character Building
By Booker T. Washington
Sunday, 27 March 2011, 3pm sharp (please be on time!)
Gregory's Cafe, 327 Park Avenue South at 24th Street
(6 train to 23rd)
Fee: $20
Character Building presents a side of Dr. Washington that is little known--as a maatian (ethical) thinker. Baba DuBois intellectually beat up on the brother so bad in Souls that we sometimes see Dr. Washington as an obsequious Uncle Tom. Let's see what your assessment is after reading and discussing his ideas on self-development and doing good for Africans. Please come and join in our maieutic discussion circle. AHA's nia (aim, purpose) is to ground you in the great black books and, through collective deliberation, guide you to be an autodidact. We complain alot about the white man's mis-education program; what we need to do is start, fund, and participate in real liberal arts (liberating skills) schools and colleges, like AHA. (We've been having trouble with C.P.Time, so please be sure you leave your homes early; emulate brother Malcolm on time management.)
