p.jpg?width=170Medgar Evers College/CUNY and United Music Makers announce a press conference on Monday, August 8, 2011 from 6 to 9:00 PM at Sankofa Academy located at 167 Fulton Street near Schnectady Avenue in Bedford Stuyvesant-Brooklyn.  Conference called to alert media outlets and community organizations about the performance of Nigerian reggae singer, poet Majek Fashek at Medgar Evers College/Jazzy Jazz Festival.

 
Majek will perform on Friday, August 12th from 6 to 9:00 PM. This free outdoor rain or shine concert will be held at Medgar Evers College amphitheater, 1650 Bedford Avenue entrance on Montgomery Street in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn.
 
Nigerian reggae star Majek Fashek first came to international attention in 1987 with the release of his tune, "Send Down The Rain."  Majek is a cousin to the legendary Fela Kuti; African heir apparent to Bob Marley.  Fashek is one of Africa's most popular reggae singers; esteemed as a prophet throughout the largest nation on the continent. This concert at the 14th annual edition of Jazzy Jazz Festival is Majek's first ever in New York City.
