Even though almost two years have passed since DNA was extracted from Armarna Pharaohs, only one commercial company has released the results and not one major media source has ran this story, the same media sources who were quick to pick up a entertainment channels (The Discovery Channel) accidental screen shot and give King Tut European roots. Reuters picked up the Discovery Channel “accidental” screen shot analysis and ran with it ( a Swiss genetic company used it as a basis for the analysis), come on Reuters, let’s see some headlines this is REAL SCIENCE, not based on a screen shot.
Egyptian antiquities curator Hawass has done little more, in his press release, even though the primary testing was done for DNA, he rehashes old evidence of malaria and other physical conditions. Dr. Zahi Hawass published the results at JAMA (Journal of American Medical Associationhttp://jama.ama-assn.org/cgi/content/full/303/7/638), anyone or group is free to analyze and publish the results, or they can challenge the results of others, only one company to my knowledge has published the results. The question we are asking is this, why is their near total silence from the international scientific world with regards to these results? I have included a small bit of the text here from DNA Tribes, there is so much more on the PDF, including maps and graphs, perhaps someone more tech savvy can post them. There are boards where discussion is taking place with reference to this finding; I will post a couple of them at the end of this post. Make no mistake, this is not just about King Tut or even his family, the very foundation of humanity and human civilizations all stand on a foundation and frame of indigenous Africans. Introduction Hello, and welcome to the January 2012 issue of DNA Tribes® Digest. This month’s article features an analysis of several mummies, including the famous King Tut and his relatives. These individuals lived in a unique time more than three thousand years ago: the “Amarna period,” which has left a vivid archaeological record of life in pharaonic Egypt. Best regards and Happy New Year, Lucas Martin DNA Tribes DNA Tribes® Digest January 1, 2012 All contents © 2006-2012 DNA Tribes. DNA Tribes® Genetic Analysis of Amarna Mummies Geographical analysis of the Amarna mummies was performed using their autosomal STR profiles based on 8 tested loci.4 Results are summarized in Table 1 and illustrated in Figure 1. Maps for individual Amarna mummies are included in Figures 2-8 in the Appendix. Discussion: Average MLI scores in Table 1 indicate the STR profiles of the Amarna mummies would be most frequent in present day populations of several African regions: including the Southern African (average MLI 326.94), African Great Lakes (average MLI 323.76), and Tropical West African (average MLI 83.74) regions. These regional matches do not necessarily indicate an exclusively African ancestry for the Amarna pharaonic family. However, results indicate these ancient individuals inherited some alleles that today are more frequent in populations of Africa than in other parts of the world (such as D18S51=19 and D21S11=34).
