Former Chicago Bears Pro Bowl cornerback Allan Ellis will be remembered during funeral services Saturday.
The funeral is set for 11 a.m. Saturday September 28th at Brookins Funeral Home, 9315 South Ashland in Chicago.
Ellis, who played for the Bears from 1973-80, was a fifth-round draft pick out of UCLA. He had 22 career interceptions and was the first Bears cornerback to be named to a Pro Bowl in 1977.
Ellis died unexpectedly last Wednesday. He was 62. Ellis had appeared at a Bears alumni reunion event the previous weekend. When he failed to show up at Catherine Cook elementary school in Chicago last Wednesday to assist his former teammate, Kris Haines, coach a flag football team as had been his custom, Haines became concerned and later learned Ellis had died.
“We were all together that Saturday night,” said Charlie Brown, a defensive back with the Bears in 1966-67, who is now with the NFL Alumni Chicago chapter.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m  Friday September 27th at Brookins Funeral Home. Internment on Saturday will be private. A repast will be held at 2105 S. State, Chicago
