Bobby Rush because of his excessive absence and worried that he is running for re-election to repay a $1MIL debt, that is scheduled to be garnished from his salary. GovTracker has reported that Rush has missed close to 30% of roll call, more than three times that of others in Congress. The grass-roots group Indivisible Chicago urged Rush to get more involved in his work as hundreds marched on his office last year.

Jeff Radue, a Beverly resident and local organizer for Indivisible remarked if Rush "is incapable of being present due to family health concerns, he should step down and work with the community to find a qualified replacement."

The progressive group was founded to organize around the Indivisible Guide, a manual drafted by former Democratic staffers.
