Please join COAL at a Coalition 'Report Back' Breakfast Meeting on Saturday, October 13, 2012 from 8:30am - 10:30am. At our regularly scheduled October Coalition Power Breakfast, held last Saturday, October 6, 2012, Ed Gardner, retired President of Soft Sheen Products, was our guest speaker. Mr. Gardner spoke on his call to action to address the lack of African American employment on major construction projects across the City.
Mr. Gardner stated that he had called on the Mayor of Chicago for a face-to-face meeting to begin a dialogue towards addressing this major issue plaguing our Community. COAL committed to a follow up meeting this Saturday to report back on that meeting or the lack there of.
Mr. Gardner met with the Mayor this past Tuesday, October 9th.
This "'Report Back' Breakfast Meeting is being held to honor COAL's commitment. Mr. Gardner will share his thoughts on his meeting with the Mayor, and COAL will discuss the next steps we are taking towards addressing the lack of African American employment and the lack of contracts for our African-American-owned businesses on construction and transportation projects.
