A historic first for the Frontiers International 37thAnnual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Breakfast will be a live broadcast of President Barack Obama’s inaugural swearing in and address.  The Breakfast, the longest running tribute to Dr. King in New Jersey, will be Monday, January 21, 2013 at Plainfield High School cafeteria and auditorium starting at 8:30 am.
Keynoting The Breakfast will be Dr. Akil Khalfani, author, actor, professor and Director of the Africana Institute at Essex County College who will speak on the theme: "We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools".  The Breakfast is an annual commemoration of the life a Dr. King, highlights student groups, give scholarships, and recognizes those in the community that have made outstanding contributions.  This year’s honorees include Harold Gibson, who was part of the security detail on stage when Dr. King gave his “I have a dream speech” and Anna Belin-Pyles, Plainfield first “home grown” superintendent of schools. Also featured will be Negros Americanos (www.negrosamericanos.com), Plainfield’s positive hip hop artists.
This Breakfast will be a truly special event where the entire community can enjoy a delicious breakfast, entertainment, honor Plainfield’s finest while watching the inauguration of President Obama and paying tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  What a day!
