Junius Williams discusses his new book, his moving and very detailed memoir, Unfinished Agenda-Urban Politics in the Era of Black Power.
 
Williams is currently the director of the Abbot Leadership Institute, a project that educates parents and students at Rutgers Newark.

          Willams was in SNCC here in Newark during the Newark Rebellion of 1967. He was outfront in the struggle to halt the mass gentrification of the Central Ward in order to build University Hospital. In the historic 1970 election of Ken Gibson as Newark’s first African-American mayor, he served as Gibson’s campaign manager.
          As an attorney, when he was selected as head of the National Bar Association, he was the youngest person to hold that post. His tenure was called ‘The Year of Affirmative Action.’ He has also represented Rev. Jesse Jackson.
                As an urban planner, he has served as director of Community Development and Model Cities. He has also served as director of University Heights Development Corporation. He has had a hand in the development of 2000 housing units in his beloved city of Newark.
          Internationally, he served as an observer of the historic 1994 election of Nelson Mandela in South Africa.
          He is also an accomplished and well-known Blues mouth-harpist with his performance ensemble Return ToThe Source.
