Anthony Pendleton and Cleo Crowly,
the parents of Hadiya Pendleton, the 15 year old Chicago honor student who was killed one week after attending and performing at The White House Inauguration were alumni of Western Illinois University and tonight (Thursday, January 31st) at 6:00 PM until 10:00 pm some local WIU Alumni and friends are hosting a special fundraiser to help the family with funeral and other expenses at The L26 Restaurant in The South Loop Hotel on 26th & State.

I am a '86 WIU Alumni and share my sympathies both as an alumni as well as an activist of over 40 years who unfortunately have had to share far too many moments like this with families, friends, associates and other constituents. But for today, I am glad to help promote tonights event.
