In-Person "Grace Period' Registration/Voting Thru March 15th
Those who missed the registration deadline have a "grace period" option to
register to vote or update their records for the March 18 Primary.
"The Grace Period" is a safety net system. Now through March 15, those who missed the deadline for standard voter registration can still participate, but they must do so in person at the Election Board and be ready to vote during that same visit," said Langdon D. Neal, Chairman of the Chicago Election Board.
During the Grace Period, voters must:
Come in person to the Election Board at 69 W. Washington St., in Chicago;
Present two forms of ID at least one of which has the voter's current address;
And then cast their Primary ballots during that same visit.
To register to vote, you must be: a U.S. citizen who will be 18 years of age or older by Nov. 4, 2014 and you must have lived in of your precinct at least 30 days before the March 18 Primary Election.
By law, voters who register or update their records during the Grace Period are not allowed to use Absentee Voting, Early Voting or Election Day voting in their local precinct polling places.
Grace Period registration and voting will be offered at 69 W. Washington St. on the Sixth Floor every day through March 15. Daily Grace Period hours are:
Mon-Sat: 9 am to 5 pm Sundays: 9 am to 3 pm
