The Creator of Kwanzaa, Dr. Maulana Karenga will address his theme at this year's celebration.

Dr. Karenga, is professor of Africana Studies at California State University-Long Beach. He is
chair of the Organization Us and the National Association of Kawaida Organizations. Executive Director of the African American Cultural Center and the
Kawaida Institute of Pan African Studies. Dr. Karenga is also author of numerous scholarly articles and books including Kawaida and Questions of Life
and Struggle; Maat, The Moral Ideal in Ancient Egypt: A Study in Classical
African Ethics
; Selections from the Husia: Sacred Wisdom of Ancient Egypt; Introduction to
Black Studies
, 4thEdition; Odu Ifa: The
Ethical Teachings.

Dr. Karenga is the creator of the pan-African cultural holiday Kwanzaa and the Nguzo Saba (The Seven Principles) and author of the authoritative text titled Kwanzaa: A Celebration of Family, Community and Culture. He is also the subject of the newly released book by Dr. Molefi Asante titled: Maulana Karenga: An Intellectual Portrait.

Entertainment will be provided by Camden, New Jersey, Universal African Dance and Drum Ensemble and Charisa, the Violin Diva, Zahmu, vocalist and composer, and Q City Soundz.

This event will take place at Boys & Girls High School, 1700 Fulton Street, 11213, in Brooklyn,
New York.
