Call On Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel To Stop The Disrespect of Chicago Black Business Icon Ed Gardner - Meet With Gardner Directly On This Issue Of Black Contractors and Workers On City and Community Job Sites

National Black Wall Street Chicago Calls On Chicago’s Black Leadership to Call On Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel To Stop The Disrespect of Chicago Black Business Icon Ed Gardner and accept Mr. Gardner’s personal request to meet and join him on touring construction sites across the city and in majority Black communities to see the lack of Black contractors and Black workers.

It was very painful to hear Ed Gardner today on the Rev. Al Sharpton’s national radio show state that no matter how many local and national interviews he has done in the past week that Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has yet to respond to his personal request to meet directly with Mayor Emmanuel. Rev. Sharpton responded by publicly committing the use of his radio program to help mobilize Chicago’s Black community to generate an even larger rally of Black citizens in another rally to show the Mayor that the Black community will not this type of non response to a legendary Black business icon like Mr. Gardner nor the issue of qualified Black community contractors and workers continually not being adequately being represented on construction sites across the city and in majority Black communities.

This is the same Ed Gardner by which Mayor Emanuel and the City of Chicago just recognized a few months ago for his legendary contributions to the city in general and Black community in particular with a honorary street sign honoring Ed Gardner and his wife on the 87th Street site that housed Gardner’s historic business Soft Sheen Products Company.  And during Rahm Emanuel’s campaign for Mayor he spent so many days opening visiting the exact same streets that Gardner is now trying to get Emanuel to visit now to see that his commitment to foster Black business growth is not happening, especially on construction sites in Chicago and in majority Black communities.

National Black Wall Street Chicago is also calling on Chicago’s Black political leadership and others, starting with the members of The Chicago City Council Black Caucus and others to immediately call on Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel to stop this continued disrespect of Black business icon Ed Gardner and this most important Black economic issue.  The Mayor is always asking for input into ways to stop the violence in the Black community and will take that advice from anyone with an answer, and so WHY ignore this icon who is trying to get the Mayor engaged in a direct process to stop the violence by stopping the economic violence that is going on when qualified Black workers are forced into illegal economies when they are qualified to work on legal construction sites in Chicago in general and in the Black community specifically.

Strategy is what black people are missing. With strategy black people can force the mayor to recognize but without critical thinking and strategic planning the best black people can ever do is.. plead, beg, whine, march and complain. Black people use your brains. Use what you have to get want you want.

One of the reasons that I always INSIST that people SHOW UP for the ongoing strategy meetings is so that we do not have to have public meetings on these sites. There is a LOT going on behind the scenes and I will not disclose all of that here, so if you want to dialogue with those who are the "critical thinkers" etc as I see them being identified, so from the outside of the process, I am doing the small things that the public has been asking about how they can help, thats all.
