There is yet another developer OLD VETERANS Group with offices located at 10942 South Halsted with President Jose Maldanaro who will be visited FRIDAY afternoon June 6th at 1:00 PM by more Black community contractors and workers challenging their award from CHA of over $20 Million for a Patrick Sullivan Housing Developments at 1633 West Madison with NO Black community contractors and workers, and we need to keep calling on our local and federal officials to ensure that these projects having any federal funding that would have this group under federal Section 3 requirements for hiring of community contractors and workers. In efforts to address the rise in violence in the Black community their must be a renewed effort to stop the economic violence from these kind of projects that fail to hire local community contractors and workers, forcing far too many into gang, drug and other illegal economies. The practice of non African American participation via subcontracting in employment opportunity in 90% to 100% African American communities must stop. Physical violence continues in our urban communities when we do not stop this practice of "ECONOMIC VIOLENCE" It has been sited and reported that project owned/developed by Pangea Real Estate has awarded 100% of contract and 98% labor force to Mexican/ Hispanic contractor and workers with no outreach efforts to African qualified contractors or workers.
As our political, civic leaders and others continue to seek solutions to the rise in physical violence in our urban communities, we must begin the process of reversing the trend that for far too long has contributed to the double digit unemployment and violence. There are major numbers of jobs and community contracts that can increase local jobs under Section 3 provisions that have been over looked as well the practice of other developers who are in majority Black communities with majority non Black work crews.
