Media Advisory

The public is invited.

Stating that” This rally will serve to educate the public on vitally important issues that affect public safety and welfare in our communities across Cook County and motivate the community to exercise their right to vote.. All Democratic primary candidates have been invited along with civic, religious, business and community leaders from across Cook County. All candidates that attend will be given the opportunity to speak. A presentation on how to utilize early voting will be given.’

Baker went on to say that “ At the rally, I will share my plans to help keep a gauge on community violence and other major concerns by holding ongoing accountability town hall meetings countywide. I will bring positive changes to the Cook County Sheriffs Department.

One of my key allies will be the clergy. I will form a partnership with the religious community. I will solicit members of the clergy to serve as department Chaplains, to assist with community reintegration of ex-offenders, and provide worship services and spiritual guidance within the Department of Corrections. I will bring positive changes to the Cook County Sheriffs Department. In a serious effort to reduce recidivism I will form a partnership with the city colleges of Chicago to bring marketable training and educational programs to the Department of Corrections. Some of the programs will be auto mechanics, cosmetology, culinary arts, and barber college. I will strongly support a second chance for ex-offenders. How else can we truly reduce recidivism? Sylvester Baker is a candidate for Cook County Sheriff in the March 18, 2014 Democratic Primary Election
