From Mona R. Washington
Brothers and Sisters,
Are our ancestors buried at an African Burial Ground in Germantown? Is this a culturally historic site used for them from 1755-1916? Is this one of America's oldest Black grave sites? Is the Philadelphia Housing Authority (PHA) desecrating this hallowed ground by disrespecting the remains of yesterday's ancestors and endangering the safety of the ancestors' remains, our children, and the Germantown residents there by allowing demolition and redevelopment on top of the sacred burial site? Also, will PHA honor the wishes of our ancestors by restoring a nearby playground for their young descendants that is safe, drug-free, and violence-free?
Find out more by supporting the Northwest Neighbors of Germantown (NNG) and Avenging The Ancestors Coalition (ATAC) at the PHA meeting on January 5 at 6:00 pm at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church at 5333 Pulaski Avenue.
The ancestors need you there!
In Unity,
