On behalf of the African Diaspora, the leadership of the World African Diaspora Union (WADU), and the leaders of our affiliate organizations, we would like to express our deepest condolences to the people of Ethiopia during this period of great mourning for the loss of Prime Minister Meles Zenawi and Abuna Paulos of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. Both have served the Pan African Movement bringing greater unity to the African world from the horrifying and traumatic experiences and effects of colonialism.
The Pan Africa Diaspora would also like to use this moment as a period of thanksgiving for the sacrifices made by the people of Ethiopia, their government and institutions, for graciously hosting the African Union and therefore all the people of Africa, from its very inception in 1963.
In the spirit of our glorious Pan African legacy, we are profoundly urging all Africans during this very vulnerable period to be extraordinarily vigilant in Ethiopia and across the African world. We recommit to praying and working together with the people of Ethiopia, the government and the African Union for greater peace, prosperity and for the promotion of the rights of African people, across Africa and for those in the African Diaspora. Let us now abide by the lasting words of HIM Haile Selassie that “Pan Africanism as the best method to resolve our problems…”
Sincerely African,
