African Greetings Again Family,
Just received word that our "Mama Gerri", Prof. Geraldine Price,
Master Teacher and Revolutionary of Early Childhood Education and Pan
African Principles has made her transition.
"Mama Gerri" was a pioneer in many aspects of education and worked relentlessly
to ensure that 4 year college students could receive day care for their children
while attending school. Prior to her efforts only 2 year college students
could receive these services which kept many from receiving 4 year college degree
due to lack of day care for their children.
She worked side by side with Prof. Jeffries, and others in the battle for
the Black Studies Department at City College and is solely responsible
for ensuring that thousands of students were able to complete their
college studies degrees and thousands more children were educated about
who they are as Africans. She was a City College Professor in Harlem NY
for several years.
Her day care center was an oasis in a very dry landscape. We shall always be in her
debt. She was a remarkable African warrior, Queen Mother and friend.
All she asked of those of us who worked with and for her was "TO CHANGE" because for
her change meant GROWTH. Let us continue to remember her lessons, internalize them,
build upon her legacy and continue to grow.
Sincerest and most heartfelt condolences to her family - her 3 sons, daughters in
law, grandchildren, friends and our community. Details forthcoming
about arrangements.

Listen to WBAI and read this week's Amsterdam News for repast and internment details
which were unknown at time of this posting.
Note: Mama Gerri and Rev. Calvin Butts were long time friends and let us not forget that
when we remember Mama`Gerri we must also remember the late Prof. Mama Eugenia Bain, who
was her closest sister in the battle for liberation of Afrikan people. May they both rest in peace.

Thanks so much for this notice. Gerri Price mentored me in Early Childhood Development back in the early 70's. I taught at her center, As the Twig is Bent. If anyone knows me from then, please get in touch. I was, at that time, "Joan Stewart."
My condolences to her friends and family.
Warmest regards,
