The Greater Newark community was stunned with the news of the sudden passing former New Black Panther Khadijah Prister.
Prister died suddenly on May 30th.
Prister served with New Black Panther Party’s Newark chapter. She was also an accomplished Jazz singer, a well-known community mother and initiate in the the traditional Ifa faith.
“She was a passionate servant of our people,” recalled Baba Zayid Muhammad, the Party’s Newark-based national minister of culture.
“A true community mother, this was someone who I did not have to explain the cultural significance of the extended family,” he added fondly.
“She personified it, and I am enormously grateful to the God of our ancestors to have had her at my back,” he finished.
Prister will be funeralized on Friday, June 8th at the House of Prayer Church, 138 Hickory Street, Orange, NJ. Her wake will take place at 11am. Her funeral will take place 12 noon.
