New York City, NY.

Family, friends, supporters, and members of the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) remember and celebrate Roy Innis.

The Innis family, members, and friends of the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE), announce with deepest sorrow the passing of Roy Innis, long time Chairman of CORE and Civil Rights leader. Roy Innis passed away on January 8, 2017 in New York City from complications of Parkinson’s disease. He was 82 years old.

Funeral services for Mr. Innis will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017. The funeral will be private and will not be open to the public.

A Public Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 23, 2017 to give the public time to pay respects to the Civil Rights leader who was an inspiration and who dedicated his life to achieving equal rights. This is the closest to a “viewing” or “visitation” that the public will have to mourn Roy Innis’ passing and to say goodbye, since Mr. Innis’ funeral service will be private. “Equality for All” was Mr. Innis’ mission and it is befitting to celebrate his life as a champion for all mankind. He embodied the ideals of “Truth, Logic, and Courage” and was a trailblazer for inclusion and pragmatism in his approach to race relations. The world is better because of his life and commitment to equality for all.

Please join the family of Mr. Innis, friends, supporters, and members of the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) in a memorial service to honor and to celebrate his life, death, and legacy. CLICK HERE FOR MORE
