I pray this message finds you all well. Attached is information on the unfortunate passing of the daughter of Akbar Muhammad, Samaiyah Aziz in Accra, Ghana.

Sister Samaiyah Aziz (October 9, 1961 - May 30, 2014) Daughter of Akbar Muhammad - International Representative to The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam.

Samaiyah passed away on Friday the 30th of May, 2014 after attending a small social gathering at the home of a judge in Accra, Ghana. When the news of her untimely death reached her father Akbar Muhammad who was in New York to speak at a funeral for Pan-African activist Elombe Brath, who received a call from Africa he left immediately to attend to the circumstances around her death. The family is looking into some of her health challenges such as her life long battle with asthma. Family and friends are waiting now for the pathology report.

Samaiyah was well traveled and loved to work with children. She was the co-owner of a school in Accra, Ghana and she opened the first teacher supply shop in Accra. She organized a summer camp in Ghana taking children from Ghana to America and bringing American children to visit Ghana. Samaiyah was born in New York City, raised in Queens, NY and moved to Saint Louis, MO in 1975. When she finished High School she attended Southeast Missorri State University at Cape Girardeau. She transferred from SMSU to Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, FL where she graduated. Her traveling started while she attended Bethune-Cookman University by doing an international exchange program in Kenya, East Africa. While in college she took up flying which she developed a passion for. In 1987 while living in Chicago, Samaiyah married Billy Hawkins and from that marriage they had one son Malik.

When the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan sent her father to Africa to open the Nation of Islam's first office on the African continent, Samaiyah was right there using her gifted talents in putting programs together. It was Samaiyah and her sisters who offered invaluable input to helping the staff organize the first Saviours Day on the African continent. They organized the travel for over 1900 people to Africa, the biggest convention of any one group held in Ghana. She leaves to mourn her loss, her son Malik Hawkins, mother Maryum Aziz Mann, father Akbar Muhammad, sisters Samimah, Germaine, Saudah, Najah, Lateefah, Maryum, Ruqqiyah, and her brother Jihad.
