Greetings,
first let me say greetings in all the languages of Blackness.
For those of you that do not know my cousin Ms. Nonita Blake was found dead in her apartment on Saturday morning in paterson New Jersey. As fate would have it she died a day or so before mother's day and two days before her birthday...today the 11th of May.
I would like to thank all who are sending well wishes, they are needed. You see my cousin and I were sort of twins across the water. She was born in Jamaica and my father assisted her in coming to America. We were born just months apart. She in May and me in December. When she came here (and even before she came I was her introduction to America. The first to take her around and introduce her to people. The first to show her "The ropes" we were closer than close.
While I am not sure that I needed it she insisted on protecting me as if I were a new born. If she knew I was coming to her house she would often cook a full meal and wait on me hand and foot...but then she treated everyone that way (I just got an extra helping).
My cousin was a very hard working no non-sense person with a beautiful sense of humor. Her sense of family was almost extreme because she always tried to make sure her family and freinds had whatever they needed. That favor was not always returned and on more than one occassion she appeared to be taken advantage of.
None of that is an issue now because she is at peace.
we must now turn to the issue of sending her home...for the last time. While I have called on many of you in the service of others this time it is for my own.
She was not working and had no insurance and we have no money on hand. We are forced to ask for your gifts in assisting us with this task.
In the place of flowers and cards we ask that you send a donation...no gift is too small. If by check or money order please make it out to Bragg Funeral Home and mail to: Kamau Khalfani, 24 Mill st,(#212) Paterson New Jersey 07501.
I was holding uo pretty good until I began to read your sentiments, while they brought me great joy they robbed me of my emotional protection and reminded me just how human I am...and for that I thank you...
on behalf of the Blake,Lawrence,Ewing,Walker,Harmon famalies
Be at peace
